EKO HOT BLOG reports the Rivers State Police Command has taken decisive measures against three of its officers who were involved in the kidnapping and extortion of $3,000 from two men.
The officers, identified as ASP Doubara Edonyabo, ASP Talent Mungo, and Inspector Odey Michael, will face an orderly room trial and official queries as part of internal disciplinary actions.

The victims were apprehended in Abia State and transported to Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers states under the pretext of alleged fraud.
The officers extorted $3,000 (equivalent to N4.2 million) from the victims during this unlawful act.
The Rivers State Police Command, upon learning of the incident, took immediate steps to apprehend the officers and conducted a thorough investigation.
The extorted money has been recovered and returned to the victims as of January 18, 2024.
The police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, expressed the command’s commitment to transparency and accountability by publicly parading the officers before the press to address the gravity of their misconduct.
She stated that, “Following a comprehensive inquiry, it has been established that the actions of the officers in question were in clear violation of the law and the ethical standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force.
“As a result, appropriate disciplinary measures are being taken to address this grave misconduct.”
The officers have received official queries, and Inspector Odey Michael is scheduled for an orderly room trial.
The Rivers State Police Command emphasized its dedication to upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
Iringe-Koko reassured the public of the command’s commitment to serving and protecting the community with utmost professionalism and integrity.
The incident, while regrettable, is not reflective of the values and principles of the police force.
The command urged the public to maintain faith in the Nigeria Police Force, highlighting the zero-tolerance stance against corruption and misconduct articulated by the Inspector General of Police.
