Rivers State Govt Calls On Atiku To Stop Attacks On Wike By Spokesmen
-
The Rivers State government has responded to the attacks by spokespersons alleged to be representing PDP presidential candidate, Abubakar Atiku on its governor, Nyesom Wike.
-
In response, the State has called on the former Vice President’s attention to bringing the spokespersons to order.
-
This comes from a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt through the Commissioner of Information, Chris Finebone.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Rivers State Government has called on former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, to restrain his spokespersons from attacking Governor Nyesom Wike.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Chris Finebone, described Atiku’s aides, Phrank Shuaibu and Daniel Bwala, as attack dogs who should be called to order.

The statement noted that Shuaibu’s comments were trivial and did not merit any response, while Bwala’s TikTok video clip, in which he advised Rivers people on who and how to vote in the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections, was unacceptable. Finebone cautioned that the PDP chieftains were yet to recover from their defeat at the presidential election and that their attacks on Governor Wike were unnecessary.
According to Finebone, Atiku’s aides should be mindful of their words and actions, especially as their defeat was self-inflicted. He noted that they were unable to persuade Atiku and the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, to keep to their words.
The Commissioner warned that failure to restrain Atiku’s attack dogs could have serious political consequences, including collateral effects.
“We hope they have learnt about the fact that there are consequences for bad behaviour. Letting the frustration of failure drive them into a state of hysteria and paranoia is needless and can do them more political harm,” Finebone said. He added that Governor Wike and his team would not hesitate to respond robustly if Atiku’s aides continued their attacks.
The Rivers State Governor has been a strong critic of the Federal Government, particularly in the area of electoral reforms. He has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of using the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig elections in their favour.
