“Rivers State May Pose Challenges If Caution Is Ignored” – Asari Dokubo Warns Tinubu
Eko Hot Blog reports that Alhaji Asari Dokubo, a prominent figure in the Kalabari Kingdom, has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to exercise caution over the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State.
Dokubo suggests that Tinubu needs to be mindful of the situation in Rivers State, warning that it could become a significant burden for him. According to Dokubo, Tinubu attempted to mediate by summoning Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara to Abuja, but unfortunately, the meeting failed to produce positive results.
In a Facebook video, Asari Dokubo expressed his concerns, emphasizing that President Tinubu should intervene and rein in the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who Dokubo believes is exceeding his authority. Dokubo implies that there are undisclosed complexities in the Rivers State situation unknown to the president, urging him to remain vigilant. He questions why the previously agreed-upon status quo is being disregarded and why Tinubu hasn’t restrained Wike, expressing disappointment in the president’s inability to enforce the maintenance of the established order.
Asari Dokubo continues to press the issue, specifically addressing President Tinubu as his friend. He advises Tinubu to be proactive in managing the Rivers State matter, cautioning that failure to do so might result in it becoming a significant obstacle for the president. Dokubo appears troubled by the lack of control over Wike’s actions and urges Tinubu to assert his influence to uphold the agreed-upon arrangements in Rivers State.
He said, “why is the status quo no longer maintained and respected? Why is the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, overstepping this agreement? Why is he doing that? Why is it that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, my friend, cannot be reel him in? .Why can’t he bring this man and tell him I told you people to maintain the status quo? President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there are a lot of things involved in this Rivers State matter, and as a friend, I’m advising you that if you are not careful, Rivers State will become your albatross.”
