FRSC -413 killed in 480 road crashes in Bauchi .
EKOHOTBLOG report that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State, has said that 413 people lost their lives and 2,157 others sustained injuries in road crashes in 2021 in the state.
The Sector Commander, Mr Yusuf Abdullahi, stated this in the 2021 annual road traffic crashes report issued on Sunday in Bauchi.
Abdullahi said that 480 road accidents were recorded across the state within the year under review.
He blamed the accidents to speed violations, reckless driving, wrongful overtaking and overloading.
The Sector Commander said that most of the crashes occurred at night and involved commercial vehicles passing through the state.
“No fewer than 3,586 people are involved in the road crashes in 2021.
“We recorded 162 fatal and 307 serious crashes during the year under review. Speeding remained the number one source of worry for the Corps personnel in road safety management,” he said.
Abdullahi reitrated the commitment of the Corps to control road traffic crashes resulting from speeding in 2022.
According to him, the Corps will continue to monitor road usage to guard against dangerous driving among other causes of road crashes in the state.
He said that the State Road Safety Advisory Council (SRSAC) inaugurated by the state government would strengthen campaign  against road crashes.
