Born March 20, 1999 in Owerri, Iwuala’s historic debut came just a week after his 22nd birthday and he will now aim for a better performance, plus probably a goal, if he gets the chance to start again for the Super Eagles
Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed how he discovered new kid on the block, Anayo Emmanuel Iwuala, while playing for Enyimba of Aba in a CAF Confederation Cup decider against Rivers United of Port Harcourt.
While basking in the euphoria of how he sent Iwuala on for his Nigeria debut in last Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Benin Republic, Rohr hinted that the youngster will get more opportunities in his team.
During an interview with a Sport media outlet, The Franco-German tactician went on to confess that Iwuala’s performance has also given him confidence to invite more players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), who he acknowledged are yearning for invitations to the main national team and are eager to take the opportunity wherever it comes their way.
He added that he appreciated that contributions made by Iwuala, whose introduction to the game in place of Henry Onyekuru added spark to the Eagles’ attack and accounted to a large extent for the late goal scored by Paul Ebere Onuachu that fetched Nigeria a 1-0 away win, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
Frenetic discussions on social media also support that Iwuala’s display confirmed that there is an abundance of talents in the NPFL, though the league is often a subject of criticism with regards to producing talents for the Eagles.
