‘Rome Not Built In A Day’ — Oba Ogunlaja Of Odo-Noforija Seeks Patience With Tinubu Administration

By Babawale Solomon

Eko Hot Blog reports that HRM Oba Babatunde Olaogun Ogunlaja (JP), the Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija kingdom, Epe Division, Lagos State, has urged Nigerians to be patient and trust in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

He made the plea on Thursday, December 28, 2023, when he hosted the Managing Director of LTV 8, Adeshola Kosoko, at his Palace.

During the visit, Oba Ogunlaja emphasized “Rome was not built in a day”, expressing hope that the president and his team are capable of fixing Nigeria’s economic woes.

“We are aware there’s hardship, and I believe that with time, things will take shape because the man at the helm of affairs, our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is highly intelligent and experienced,” the traditional ruler stated.

“Looking at the situation of the country, everything and everywhere is calm. People know that the president is very transparent with what he’s doing, and I don’t think he has time for himself right now. Things have gone wrong before, and he’s trying to put things together for the good people of Nigeria.”

He appealed to Nigerians to exercise patience, as the president has put people he knew would do a good job in positions they are capable of handling, while urging the Nigerian leader to ignore social media criticisms.

“I appeal to people to be more patient; Rome wasn’t built in a day. The people in government now have been tested and are trusted; they know what they’re doing. The person handling the Central Bank of Nigeria, as well as the finance minister and many others, is known to the president, and he knows what they’re capable of,” the traditional ruler said.

“As a leader, if you put someone in a position and don’t know what they’re capable of, it will be difficult to succeed. The president knows the nook and cranny of the government.

“We don’t listen to what’s going on social media because doing that will make one feel offended. We thank God that about 90% of the people know that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu knows what he is doing.”

Expressing gratitude for the support of his community, Oba Ogunlaja praised Noforija as the most peaceful community in Epe division, while wishing community members a prosperous new year in advance.

“The people of my kingdom have been very supportive. If you go round Noforija you will know that it’s the most peaceful community in Epe division,” the monarch said.

“When you have a good leader in a community, it’s sure that the community will be peaceful. Whenever I call on my people, they’re always there and I thank God for their lives and I use this medium to wish them a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.”

Oba Ogunlaja also spoke on the happenings in the community, especially in terms of security, including how the security agencies have stepped up to bring peace to the community, and how grateful he is for their impact.

“In terms of security, I have talked to the government security agencies, and I thank God that they’re yielding to our call. I have written a letter to the new IG, and he responded immediately, leading to a reduction in the crime rate. We are grateful for that,” he said.
