Eko Hot Blog reports that Rotarian Olubunmi Oguntade has been formally invested as the 40th President of the Rotary Club of Gbagada in Lagos State.
Oguntade assumed the position on Sunday at an investiture ceremony held at the Yoruba Tennis Club, Lagos.
Before diving into the investiture ceremony, attendees were reminded of the rich history of the Rotary Club of Gbagada.
Founded 27th February, 1984, this club has been a pillar of service and goodwill within the community, making positive impacts through various humanitarian projects over the years.
The Rotary anthem was subsequently recited, echoing the club’s commitment to “Service Above Self,” a motto that has guided countless Rotarians in their mission to make the world a better place.
In keeping with Rotary Club tradition, the baton of leadership was passed from the outgoing president to the incoming President, Olubunmi Oguntade, symbolising the continuity of the club’s mission and values.
President Oguntade delivered her acceptance speech, expressing her deep commitment to the Rotary Club of Gbagada.
She also outlined her vision for community development for the year ahead, promising not to betray the confidence imposed in her.
Earlier, Dr. Uwemedimo Esiet, the guest speaker, addressed the gathering, sharing insights into the world of service and humanitarian efforts.
The guest speaker made a passionate appeal for attendees to embrace a life of service to humanity.
On his part, Chief Moyo Ajekigbe, the chairman of the event, emphasised the core mission of the Rotary Club, which is to provide service to others.
He advised the new president to keep up with the club’s core mission, highlighting the importance of continued dedication to the community.
Meanwhile, the Rotary Club of Gbagada honoured some notable personalities at the investiture ceremony.
Notable awardees included Otunba Tajudeen Abass, Ms Omolara Balogun, Engineer Adenii Raji, Mr. Wale Adegbite, Ochanaya ‘Gina Dan Ugo, and Mr. Ademola Okulaja, who received recognition for their outstanding service to humanity.
Similarly, the club honoured its past presidents for their dedication and service.
The ceremony also witnessed the induction of eight new Rotarians into the Rotary Club of Gbagada, further expanding the club’s network of service-minded individuals.
There was also a fundraising for the pediatric ward at Gbagada General Hospital.
The investiture of Rotarian Olubunmi Oguntade as the 40th President of the Rotary Club of Gbagada marked not only a change in leadership but also a reaffirmation of the club’s unwavering commitment to serving the community and making a positive impact on society.
With dedicated leaders like President Olubunmi at the helm, the Rotary Club of Gbagada is poised for another year of remarkable service and contributions to humanity.
