Rotary Club Ikoyi Donates Solar Power System to Orphanage Home in Ikoyi
Ekohotblog reports that the Rotary Club Ikoyi donated and commissioned a solar power system to the Motherless Babies Home at Ikoyi Lagos today, November 23, 2024.
The solar power system has 14 solar panels installed on the roof of the care home to help improve the welfare of the children.
Rotary International has thousands of clubs worldwide, including the Rotary Club of Ikoyi and the Rotary Foundation. They work together to bring about long-term change in their communities and around the world.
On Saturday, November 32, 2024, the Rotary Club officially launched the solar power project at the Lagos State Youth and Social Development Motherless Babies Home in Ikoyi, as part of their star project for the year.
The launch is part of the club’s program for the celebration of her 40th anniversary.

At the official commissioning of the project, the club’s president, Rotarian Emmanuel Ibukun Efuntayo, speaking at the event, stated that the project is just the first phase of what the club has in store for the Motherless Babies home.
“This project is just the beginning; we are planning to paint the interiors and exterior of the facility. Our commitment extends beyond today. We want to ensure that this facility remains a beacon of hope and support to those who need it the most.”
“The challenges facing the vulnerable population in our society are vast and complex; however, united by our shared values, we can address these issues together to create positive change and bring about community development.”
The representative of the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Pharm. (Mrs.) Zeinab Oluwatoyin Oke-Osanyintolu, also expressed the delight of the Lagos State government towards the kind gesture of the Rotary Club of Ikoyi towards the Motherless Babies Home.
