Rotary Club Of Gbagada Presents Award Of Outstanding Service To Otunba TJ Abass

Early this month, the Rotary Club of Gbagada presented an award of outstanding service to Eko Hot Blog founder, Otunba Tajudeen Abass, and some eminent personalities in society for their positive contributions to humanity.

The awards were presented at the club’s grand investiture ceremony at the Greetings Hall, Yoruba Tennis Club in Onikan, Lagos State, on October 1, 2023.

The event marked the induction of Rotarian Olubunmi Oguntade as the 40th president of the club, a new board of directors, and the awarding of individuals who have made tremendous contributions to society.

The ceremony also featured a fundraiser for the languishing pediatric ward at the Gbagada General Hospital.

A poignant documentary was presented, shedding light on the current state of the pediatric ward at the hospital and the club’s plans for its renovation and improvement.

The awardees, including Otunba Abass, proceeded to make significant financial commitments to renovating the Gbagada General Hospital’s pediatric ward.

After receiving his award of commendation with his royal father, HRM Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo Noforija Kingdom, friends, and family proudly by his side, Otunba Abass delivered a speech where he shared his life journey from a humble background with limited resources to achieving success through determination.

In the inspiring speech, he urged people to support the Rotary Club of Gbagada’s vision of helping the less privileged and enhancing community development.

Otunba Abass emphasised the need for Nigerians to be better citizens to create a better Nigeria as the nation celebrated its 63rd Independence Day.

To demonstrate his commitment, he pledged half of the funds needed to remodel the pediatric ward at Gbagada General Hospital, receiving a standing ovation for this generous contribution.

His speech encouraged unity, compassion, and active participation in community improvement.

Several other awardees were recognised for their remarkable contributions to society, and the new board of directors was officially inducted, setting the stage for continued impactful service.

Earlier, the investiture ceremony of Rotarian Oguntade kicked off with an opening prayer, followed by the recitation of both the national anthem and the Rotary Club anthem, setting a patriotic tone for the event.

The master of ceremonies, a fellow club member, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, acknowledging the presence of past club presidents and their spouses, including the incoming president, who were introduced amidst joyful music and dance.

The chairman of the investiture committee delivered an inspiring speech, outlining the Rotary Club of Gbagada’s mission, which centers on improving the lives of the less privileged and fostering community and national development.

The outgoing president also took the stage to highlight the club’s remarkable achievements during his tenure, underscoring their commitment to creating a positive impact.

The guest speaker captivated the audience with an insightful speech, emphasising the importance of collective effort in community development and service.

The highly anticipated moment arrived as the outgoing president symbolically passed the leadership baton to the incoming president, Rotarian Oguntade, who expressed her commitment to executing outstanding projects with the support of all club members.

The ceremony concluded on a joyous note with an indigenous band filling the air with captivating music.

Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright graced the dance floor alongside the newly inaugurated president of the Rotary Club of Gbagada and other guests, making it a night filled with honour and celebration.
