The conferment ceremony started off with a closed-door meeting led by Oba Adams, other royal fathers including, HRM Oba Fatai Oyeyinka Aromire, HRM Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, HRM Oba Owolabi Adeshina Adeniyi, the celebrants, amongst others.
Subsequently, the kings, celebrants, friends and family made their way to the palace where they took turns to pray for the Onilogbos.
Oba Adams adorned them with their chieftaincy beads, staff and headgears with leaves and also prayed for them.
Speaking with Eko Hot Blog, Chief Onilogbo appreciated God for the privilege given to serve the people of Ikate Kingdom.
He also acknowledged the king for his leadership in the kingdom, promising him more support than before so that the kingdom will become more prosperous.
The new Aare of Ikate Kingdom further commended his wife, the royal fathers in attendance, friends and family that came far and near to felicitate with his family.
“I express my profound gratitude to God for the privilege bestowed upon me to serve the people of Ikate Kingdom. It is a humbling honor, and I am committed to leveraging this position to contribute positively to the community,” Chief Onilogbo said.
“The trust placed in me by HRM Oba Abdul Lateef Atanda Abiodun Adams fuels my determination to work tirelessly for the betterment of Ikate Kingdom.
“In extending my appreciation, I want to acknowledge the exemplary leadership of our esteemed king.
“His dedication and vision for the kingdom have inspired me, and I pledge unwavering support to amplify the progress he has initiated. Together, with the collective efforts of the kings, friends, and family, we aspire to propel Ikate Kingdom into greater prosperity and unity.
“I must also express my heartfelt gratitude to my wife, whose unwavering support has been my pillar. Her commitment to our shared vision for the community is invaluable.
“To everyone who came from far and near to join in the celebration, your presence and well-wishes are deeply cherished. This occasion marks not just a personal milestone but a collective celebration of Ikate Kingdom’s resilience and unity.”
Reacting to the installation of the Aare and Yeye Aare of Ikate, Oba Adams noted that he was never in a rush to make chiefs and wouldn’t consider those with affluence without impact in the community.
The monarch also disclosed what he saw in Chief Onilogbo and his wife that made him confer them with the chieftaincy titles.
“It was after a year of becoming king that I conferred chieftaincy titles on two individuals, ‘Iya Oba’ and ‘Baba Oba,’ who are respectable people. For me, I don’t want to do things in a way that won’t bring fulfillment to me,” he said.
“I don’t want to make people chiefs simply because they’re wealthy. If you’re not capable or able to make an impact in the community, I don’t need you.
“What I observed in Chief Bisi Onilogbo is that he’s incredibly humble and does the right things even without being told. He requested this title, and I saw that he deserves it alongside his wife. That’s why I conferred it on him. I don’t need to look elsewhere when I have him. He’s a genuinely nice person.”
The couple took to the dancefloor as well wishers came around to dance with them and showered them with money, as the event draws to a close.
Friends and family took time also to celebrate them, wishing them well in their new roles as the Aare and Yeye Aare of Ikate Kingdom.
