In a stunning upset in June 2019, Ruiz clinched victory from Joshua, securing the heavyweight titles in New York.

However, Joshua regained his titles in a rematch staged in Saudi Arabia six months later, ending their immediate rivalry with each boxer having one win.

Despite the results from their past fights, Ruiz is still keen on a definitive trilogy match.

His upcoming return to the ring is set for August 3 against Jarrell Miller, sparking increased speculation about the possibility of a third showdown with Joshua.

Recognizing Joshua’s recent resurgence, Ruiz credited his opponent’s regained momentum and confidence to his commendable performances in recent bouts.

“He’s getting his momentum back. He’s getting his confidence back. I think that’s the most important thing. He’s doing what he’s supposed to do.

“I think he’s doing his thing. I’m just happy for him. I would love to have that trilogy with him,” Ruiz said.

“He gave me that opportunity. I gave him back that opportunity, and there’s one more. I want to become a two-time heavyweight champion of the world.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua is aiming for the opportunity to become a three-time heavyweight champion, a feat previously accomplished only by Muhammad Ali.
