Russia-Ukraine: Zelensky Bans Men Aged 18 To 60 From Fleeing

• Zelensky has banned males between the ages of 18- 60 from fleeing the country following invasion from Russia,” Ukraine’s State border guard service (DPSA) reported.

• The ban will be in place for the duration of martial law, which was imposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday morning after Russia attacked Ukraine.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine notes that due to the imposition of martial law in Ukraine, a certain category of citizens is temporarily restricted from leaving Ukraine,” the country’s interior ministry also announced at midnight via Telegram.

“In particular, male citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 are prohibited from leaving Ukraine. This rule will apply for the period of martial law. We ask citizens to take this information into account,” he said.

Anyone caught violating martial law could end up facing military tribunals.
The DPSA said the ban on males leaving the country is to guarantee Ukraine’s defence and organisation of timely.

As the invading Russian forces pressed deep into Ukraine, the President has urged any Ukrainian citizen with a passport willing to fight to come forward and promised weapons for anyone.

President Vladimir Putin defied Western warnings to unleash a full-scale ground invasion and air assault that quickly claimed dozens of lives and displaced at least 100,000 people.

At least 137 Ukrainian heroes have been killed during the first day of fighting, President Volodymyr Zelensky said, as he called up conscripts and reservists nationwide to fight in a general mobilisation.

Zelensky said there was now a “new iron curtain” between Russia and the rest of the world, like in the Cold War, adding in a later speech his nation had been “left alone”.
“Who is ready to fight alongside us? I don’t see anyone.”

NATO said it had activated “defence plans” for allied countries.
But NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said there was no plan to send alliance forces into Ukraine.

Zelensky called the attack on Chernobyl “a declaration of war on all of Europe” while 18 people were killed at a military base near the Black Sea port of Odessa in the deadliest single strike reported by Kyiv.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President encouraged any Ukrainian citizen with a passport keen to revolt to come forward and promised weapons for anyone.
