Sacked in the morning, was the chant that sailed from the home end in the fixture between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool on Saturday’s fixture at Molineux as Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp sees himself at the end of the joke.
A 3-0 victory for Wolves and a defeat for Liverpool, speaks volumes of how badly a club that was within reach of completing an unprecedented quadruple last season has fallen.
The score line doing well to speak for itself, opens what’s hidden in broad daylight for all to see as a team that started the season has the team that has scored the least goals this season turned the Reds upside down to nab a rare 3-0 victory this season.
Much cannot be said for Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, who found himself standing helpless, confused with arms pocketed as he watched a highly held-up team become an embarrassment to his eyes.
The German’s ears weren’t given the luxury of peace either as the Wolves fans hit out with chants reminding him and bringing Liverpool fans to one reality as Real Madrid looks set to pounce later in the month; is Jurgen Klopp finally heading for a sack?
The question at one point may have sounded a sacrilege to the minds of the Reds faithful, but after the horror show in defence and in attack against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool fans may want to have a debate about it now.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss may have the sweet talk to sway fans and instil hope of a turn-round after this, like he has been doing all through the 2022-2023 season, but the consecutive games against Brighton and now Wolves, have shown the problem of Liverpool is far from being resolved.
Pundits, and fans alike may want to put the blame on the lack of midfield signing throughout the transfer windows that have come in the way of the club, but a window into how Liverpool has played the games this season shows, the midfield might not just be the club’s problems like people believe.
The reality is that there is something Liverpool fans may want to consider about its off-pitch activities that could be reflecting on-pitch this season.
A team that was at the edge of winning 4 trophies and creating history last season cannot fall so badly a season after without something smoking behind the scenes. Even though Liverpool has their motto as ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, they may have to fall on the realization that they truly are walking alone if the problem isn’t figured out in earnest.
