Ekohotblog reports that Saint Theresa Catholic Church, Epe, achieved a historic milestone yesterday with the induction of over 200 women into its inaugural Catholic Women Organisation (CWO).
The momentous event, held in the church’s main auditorium, drew a large crowd of parishioners, clergy, and distinguished guests.

The celebration began with a solemn Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Gabriel Ugoje, the Parish Priest. In his homily, Fr. Ugoje highlighted the vital role of women in the Church’s mission and community service.
He encouraged the new members to embody the values of faith, charity, and dedication as they embark on their new roles within the CWO.
Following the Mass, the induction ceremony formally welcomed over 200 women into the CWO.
Led by Mrs Uzu Elizabeth CWONLA Executive, The Deanery Coordinator,Mrs Agnes Ogbeide and The Team, Epe CWON President Mrs Babatunde Comfort and her Team and The Induction Committee Members.
Each member pledged to contribute actively to the Church’s initiatives and community outreach.
The ceremony was marked by prayers, blessings, and heartfelt speeches from Church leaders and prominent figures in the Diocese.
The event was further distinguished by the presence of key Diocesan leaders, who commended the formation of the CWO as a significant advancement for the Parish.
“This historic event signifies a new chapter for Saint Theresa Catholic Church,” said one of the leaders.
“The Catholic Women Organisation will play a crucial role in our community’s spiritual and social life.”
The day’s celebrations concluded with a reception where attendees enjoyed a variety of refreshments and engaged in vibrant fellowship.
The atmosphere was one of joy and unity, reflecting the strong sense of community among the parishioners.
The establishment of the CWO at Saint Theresa Catholic Church promises to enhance the Parish’s outreach efforts and provide new opportunities for women to engage in Church activities and community service.
