Ruka Mamud, a 30-year-old sales representative, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing N10 million worth of lace cloths from her employer, Alhaja Adijat Foluke.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident reportedly took place at Agege Motor Road in the Oshodi area of Lagos, where Mamud was employed as a sales representative in Foluke’s shop.
According to the police report, Mamud allegedly stole the cloths between August 1, 2024, and December 27, 2024.
The theft was discovered when Foluke conducted an internal audit and found the cloths missing, prompting her to report the matter to the Akinpelu Division of the Nigeria Police Force.
Following an investigation and interrogation by the police, Mamud was found culpable for the missing items and was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court.
The charge read:
“That you, Ruka Mamud F, employed by on Alhaja Adijat Foluke “, as a sales representatives in her lace shop located at No. 376, Agege Motor Road, Oshodi, Lagos, between 1/8/2024 and 27/12/2024, in the Ikeja Magisterial district did steal the sum of N10,000,000 00 (Ten million Naira) property of one Alhaja Adijat Foluke ‘f’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
In response to the charges, pleaded not guilty before the Ogba Magistrate Court.
Following Mamud’s plea, the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, requested a hearing date to allow the police to present evidence supporting their allegations of her involvement in the theft.
Presiding Magistrate Mrs. O. Kusanu granted Mamud bail on the condition that she provides two sureties who can demonstrate proof of livelihood and tax payment, with addresses to be verified by the court.
The case has been adjourned, and Mamud has been remanded in custody at the Kirikiri correctional center until she meets the bail requirements.
