EKO HOT BLOG reports that RB Salzburg has raised their price tag for Manchester United and Chelsea transfer target Benjamin Sesko to €45m.
United have held talks over a potential move for Sesko as they look for another option up front and possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sesko’s representatives have now met with United as well as fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea and Newcastle as interest in the 19-year-old heats up.
Chelsea lost Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan this summer and are lacking a main striker ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are also keen to bring in a striker and have been linked to moves for Chelsea’s Timo Werner and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly claimed this summer that Newcastle will form part of a new Premier League ‘Big Seven’ with the existing Big Six, given their new spending power after a Saudi-backed consortium completed a £300m takeover.
Sesko is a 6’4″ striker who has already been capped 13 caps for Slovenia, scoring two goals, having only turned 19 in May this year.
He scored 11 goals in all competitions last season and has started this campaign with Salzburg with two goals in three games, also scoring the only goal in a friendly win against Liverpool on Wednesday.
‘It’s probably a summer too early for him, but every club is looking at the price Liverpool paid for Darwin Nunez and thinking it might cost them an extra £20m if they wait another 12 months,’ a source told iNews.
‘Salzburg need Sesko for the Champions League, they’re not encouraging a sale. But that’s a different thing from the player not being for sale, and they’d listen to offers.’
Salazburg are the current champions of the Austrian Bundesliga, which they have won every year since 2013-14.
