Eko Hot Blog reports that it was the most beautiful inter-tribal joining of two Nigerian families on Saturday, July 20, 2024, as Samuel Oyenuga and Chiamaka Ibeh married in Dallas, Texas.
The event featured a Kolanut Ceremony, a part of the Igbo hospitality culture.
The bride’s family broke kolanut and offered it to the groom’s family as a symbol of welcoming the latter into the former’s family. The Kolanut Ceremony also symbolised acceptability.
Furthermore, the groom, Samuel, prostrated before his in-laws to seek their daughter’s hand in marriage.
The marriage rites, also known as Igba Nkwu, followed as Samuel and Chiamaka were officially joined.
Afterwards, the parents of the groom and bride blessed the new couple before they had their first dance.
The marriage of Samuel and Chiamaka is testament to one of the many positives of modern technology and its agents.
The couple met on Instagram, the popular social media platform, after they followed each other due to their common interests in fitness.
Samuel, who quickly took interest in Chiamaka, added her to his “Close Friends” on Instagram, a move that caught the latter’s attention.
The new bride then texted her future husband to hang out as friends because they had common interests.
Someone close to the couple said they hung out everyday after that first hangout.
“After some time, they realized that maybe there was chemistry there. Sam made it out of the friend zone! They decided that they should go ahead and try dating (getting to know each other romantically),” the person said.
Months later, they fell in love and grew in their Christian faith together.
“Chichi supported Sam in his lowest while growing his gym/brand into what it is today and Sam supported Chichi during her lowest in nursing school into her now being a full BSN RN,” the couple’s friend added.
“Now they are both enjoying the fruits of their labor. Cheers to love!”
Samuel attended New Mexico State University to play football on full scholarship and studied Kinesiology.
On the other hand, Chiamaka studied Exercise Science at University of Texas (UT), Arlington. Afterwards, she proceeded to West Coast University to study Nursing.
