Former lawmaker and foremost Nigerian activist, Sen. Shehu Sani, has taken a swipe at Nigeria’s political elite regarding the recent directive by Federal Government to mobile operators to disable SIM cards unregistered with the NIMC database by the turn of the new year.
Eko Hot Blog had earlier reported the directive by Federal Government, one which has sparked outrage amongst Nigerians who believe that it is unfeasible for the entire population to complete enrolment within the NIMC platform in view of the inadequacies of the existing enrolment framework.

In a reactionary statement via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2020, Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in Nigeria’s 8th Assembly said that the directive is deliberate mischief promoted by some Nigerian politicians in order to stay unreachable during the Yuletide and resurface by the turn of the new year.
“Some people wanted Minister Pantami to block their Sim before Christmas and to reopen after new year” Sani wrote on Twitter.
