Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, promised to ensure that indigent residents, who so desire, have access to free legal representation in the state.

Sanwo-Olu made the pledge during the visit of a four-man team from the Board of Trustees of the Lagos Public Interest Law Partnership (LPIP) led by Senator Daisy Danjuma.

He assured of his continued financial and other forms of support for the LPIP in order to ensure that indigent residents, who so desire, have access to free legal representation.

The governor also commended Danjuma and her colleagues for making life bearable for Lagos residents who might not have the wherewithal to fund legal representation in court.

“This platform we are talking about is important. We need to merge users and operators so that people can see what requirements, areas, and skills are required and they can use them for their benefits. As the saying goes, justice must not just be done; it must be seen to have been done.

“We’ll continue to support the partnership and collaborate in whatever form for a better society. The support may be in the form of finance or any other resources required for the LPIP to achieve its mandate.

“I want to commend the initiative, and for us, as a government, we will continue to raise the bar,” the governor said.
