Sanwo Olu Commends Super Eagles Amidst AFCON Loss

Eko Hot Blog reports that in a recent post on the Official Facebook Page of His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, he expressed deep sorrow for the Super Eagles’ loss in the just concluded AFCON tournament.

The Governor acknowledged the team’s unwavering dedication throughout the competition, emphasizing the thin line between success and defeat.

“A very sad loss for the Super Eagles. They gave their all in this tournament, but in the end, it was left to fine margins.”

Throughout the tournament, Lagos State created a sense of unity by hosting thousands of football enthusiasts in 25 viewing centers.

The Super Eagles, carrying the hopes and dreams of the nation, captivated the hearts of many, fostering a spirit of togetherness among the people.

“Over the course of the tournament, we brought together thousands of people to enjoy football across 25 viewing centres as our team carried the hopes and dreams of the nation.” he included.

Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the team, highlighting their accomplishments and the pride they instilled in the nation, both in victory and defeat.

The AFCON tournament, according to the Governor, served as a powerful force that brought the community together through shared passion for football.

“In victory and in loss, this team has done us proud, and we will fondly remember this AFCON as a powerful force that brought us all together.”

Despite the loss, William Troost-Ekong received special recognition for his outstanding performance and was crowned the AFCON Player of the Tournament.

The Governor concluded the post with a message of encouragement, urging the champions to regroup and prepare for future endeavors.

“Congratulations to William Troost-Ekong for being crowned the AFCON Player of the Tournament. Well done to our champs, let’s rebuild and go again.”

In the face of adversity, the Super Eagles have not only represented Nigeria on the field but have also united communities, making the AFCON 2023 a memorable chapter in the nation’s football history.
