Eko Hot Blog reports that Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his commitment to the educational sector in the state through the domestication of TeachForNigeria.
The governor revealed this commitment via his official X handle, following a meeting with TeachForNigeria fellows at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
In his statement, Sanwo-Olu emphasized that, “The strides we are making with education in Lagos can only be achieved because education remains a top priority for our administration.”
He reiterated the administration’s dedication to the education sector, stating that, “Today, I reiterated our administration’s commitment to the education sector, emphasizing our dedication to providing unparalleled investments, funding, and infrastructure to enhance the sector.”
The governor disclosed his collaboration with TeachForNigeria to establish a sustainable five-year program, officially named the TeachForLagos project.
“We are working in partnership with TeachForNigeria to build a sustainable five-year programme to domesticate the initiative in Lagos State as the TeachForLagos project,” he disclosed.
He said that the initiative aims to foster comprehensive engagement with the TeachForNigeria model, ensuring the effective implementation of its principles within the Lagos educational landscape.
Sanwo-Olu elaborated on the administration’s proactive steps in recruiting 275 Fellows through the TeachForNigeria initiative across the state, stating that the primary objective is to address educational inequalities and guarantee that no child is left behind in accessing quality education.
He noted that this initiative aligns with the broader vision of enhancing the overall educational experience for students in Lagos State.
The collaborative efforts between the state government and TeachForNigeria are poised to drive positive transformation and bring about sustained advancements in the quality of education offered to the youth of Lagos.
