“Your excellency, today marks the day of the development of Ejinrin land with the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of the Lagos film city in my domain. I’m indeed highly elated for this honor in my kingdom,” the monarch said.
“There’s no doubt the natural endowment deposited in the city of Ejinrin will greatly enhance the desired development of the film city project. This project is my dream; I aspire for it to compete with other prominent film cities around the world.
“I firmly believe this endeavor will not only bring immense development to Ejinrin socially and commercially but also contribute significantly to the global film industry. I promise to extend my fullest support to ensure the success of this project.

A comprehensive road network, especially extending the dualized Ketu-Epe road to Ejinrin and linking it to the Lekki-Epe International Airport, will add substantial value to this magnificent film city project. Furthermore, a segment of our waterways can be transformed into a compelling tourist attraction.”
The king concluded by showering prayers and blessings upon the governor.
In his keynote address, Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the kings, stakeholders, and all present. He highlighted the enormity of Lagos, stating that “this is Lagos,” emphasizing its stature as the 5th largest economy in Africa.

“The inception of this monumental project happened during my tenure, conceived to reshape and amplify the creative landscape. The film industry, like many others, faced significant challenges during the pandemic. Recognizing its vital role, we provided financial support to aid its recovery. Looking forward, we anticipate that the entertainment industry will substantially contribute to our nation’s GDP.”
He emphasized partnerships with creatives and their vital role in empowering the youth through training initiatives.
The governor urged stakeholders to propel the industry beyond its current status and pledged to foster growth and development in various Lagos communities. He highlighted other projects in Ejinrin, including the construction of the largest psychiatric hospital.
