Sanwo-Olu Empowers 1,700 Lagosians at Micro Enterprise Support Initiative

- Governor Sanwo-Olu empowered 1,700 vulnerable residents with tools and cash grants at the 2025 Micro Enterprise Support Initiative.
- Beneficiaries were selected from 19 tuition-free Skills Acquisition Centres across Lagos State’s five divisions.
- Items distributed include sewing machines, cake mixers, barbing kits, POS machines, gas burners, and more.
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, today 29th April, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to empowering the less privileged as he graced the 2025 Micro Enterprise Support Initiative for 1,700 vulnerable and indigent residents of the state.
Ekohotblog reports that the event, which took place at the De Blue Roof, Lagos Television, Alausa Ikeja, was organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) under the leadership of Commissioner Mrs. Bolaji Dada.

The initiative targeted beneficiaries trained in various vocational skills across the 19 tuition-free Skills Acquisition Centres spread across the five divisions of Lagos State, ensuring widespread impact and inclusivity.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the beneficiaries, emphasized the importance of self-reliance and the state’s vision for grassroots economic empowerment.
“This is not just an empowerment program; it is a gateway to independence and productivity. Our government is investing in people because we believe in their capacity to build a better Lagos,” he stated.
Over 30 categories of enterprise tools and starter packs were distributed, including: sewing machines, stoning machines, cake mixers, barbing kits, POS machines, 2-face gas burners, aluminium fabrication tools, pedicure sets, cameras with stands, carpentry equipment, smoking kilns, pepper grinders, and cash grants.
Commissioner Bolaji Dada noted that the initiative is a core part of the ministry’s poverty alleviation drive and inclusive growth agenda.
“These items represent opportunity, not just tools. Each recipient today is equipped to create value and support their families,” she said.
One of the beneficiaries, trained in catering and now equipped with a cake mixer and POS machine, expressed gratitude to the state government.
“I never imagined I could start my business so soon. With these tools, I can now earn and support my household,” she said, beaming with joy.
