Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called upon parents to play an active role in their children’s lives and inculcate values that will contribute positively to societal development.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Sanwo-Olu made the statement during an Eid Kabir celebration hosted by the First Family of Lagos State at the State House in Marina on Monday.
While the governor had to leave early to attend to other state matters, his message was reinforced by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

He encouraged parents to prioritize the well-being and character development of their children, ensuring that they grow into responsible, engaged members of society.
“Our children are the future of tomorrow. It is our duty as parents to guide them rightly and nurture them with the values of honesty, discipline and obedience to Almighty Allah,” he said.
He encouraged Muslims to reflect on the fundamental teachings of Eid Kabir, including sacrifice, obedience, and faith in God, as they play a crucial role in fostering peaceful and progressive communities.
Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of upholding these values in modern society to facilitate community growth.
The event was attended by government officials, community leaders, women and youth groups, and members of the Muslim community.

The guest speaker, Dr. Sa’eid Ahmad of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, supported Sanwo-Olu’s message and urged Muslims to preserve the valuable lessons of Eid Kabir despite the pressures of modern society.
“Today’s lecture focuses on the trials of life and how to maintain our faith in God regardless of challenges.
“We must come together to support one another and flee from sin,” Ahmad said.
Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, the Wife of Lagos State Deputy Governor, commended the hosts for providing a platform to foster love, unity, and reflection on the festival’s significance.
The state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Layode, echoed this sentiment by encouraging Muslims to adhere to the tenets of Islam in their daily lives.
