Sanwo-Olu Expresses Support for Maiden Edition of South West Games

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum and Governor of Lagos State, affirmed the state’s readiness to host the inaugural South West Games scheduled for March 26 to 28.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that the event will bring together athletes from the region’s six states – Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti – to compete in various sports at venues including the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Rowe Park, and Yaba College of Education.

During a courtesy visit by the South West Games 2025 Committee, led by its President, Dr. Olanrewaju Alfred, Governor Sanwo-Olu assured the organizers and participants of the state government’s commitment to providing safe and adequate sporting facilities.

He emphasized that the 2025 South West Games will serve as a catalyst for promoting social inclusion, youth engagement, healthy rivalry, and opportunities to encourage young people to become more creative.

Lagos State aims to continue fostering an enabling environment for community development by using social apparatus to nurture sound minds and encourage inclusion and youth engagement.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the organizers behind the South-West Games and reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s support for this significant sporting event.

During the courtesy visit, Dr. Olanrewaju Alfred, President of the South West Games 2025 Committee, praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his inspirational leadership and the remarkable progress achieved in key sectors across Lagos State.

He thanked the governor for providing essential sporting facilities to host the inaugural South West Games and acknowledged him as the Chairman of the South-West Governors Forum.
