The governor described Adefuye, a member of the national assembly in the aborted Third Republic, as a democrat and experienced politician.
He said that Adefuye is passionate about good governance and the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.
Sanwo-Olu said that Adefuye, who turns 80 on Wednesday, deserved all the accolades for his immense contributions to the growth and development of governance and politics in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.
“Adefuye served Lagos state and Nigeria passionately as a member of the senate in the third republic.
“He is a true democrat and one of those who fought tirelessly in defense of democracy after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
“Since he joined partisan politics, Adefuye has remained one of the most respected leaders and leading voices in Lagos politics.
“He is an uncompromising, disciplined and principled politician. His contributions remain invaluable as a member of the GAC.
“As Adefuye joins the league of octogenarians on Aug.14, I pray that God will grant him good health to render more service to humanity, Lagos state and Nigeria,” the governor said.
