Eko Hot Blog reports that the Epe Local Government has written to the Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Epe Branch, over incessant clashes between rival cult groups and kidnappings ravaging the community.
In a letter titled ‘Urgent Security Alert’ and dated October 4, 2023, the Epe LG Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Surah O. Animashaun, condemned the illegal acts, saying the council could no longer bear the “senseless attacks” on the community.
She, therefore, sought the support of the youth council in ensuring strict security surveillance to foil the activities of the cult groups within Epe LG.
The LG council boss also imposed a curfew on communities within the area between the hours of 9pm – 5am daily.
The curfew will affect markets, clubs & bars, and motorcycle & tricycle operators until further notice.

“I write to bring to your attention a matter of utmost importance and urgency concerning the security and wellbeing of the people in the community,” the letter reads.
“As a result of the incessant clashes between rival cult groups and Kidnapping ravaging the community, the Local Government Council can no longer bear the shedding of blood of the youths and senseless attacks on the community.
“The cardinal responsibility of the government is to protect lives and properties of the citizens. It is in view of this that the Local Government is requesting for your support in ensuring strict security surveillance to foil the activities of these cult groups within the Local Government and its environs.
“In consideration of this, the local security outfit (Ibile Vigilante) will be working together with you for easier identification of culprits and in identifying the black spots within the community.
“Henceforth, there is going to be a curfew between the hours of 9pm – 5am daily for all markets, clubs & bars, motorcycle & tricycle operators until further notice.
“Thank you for your usual cooperation and support.”
