Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially inaugurated two significant housing estates, Olaleye New Town Estate at Iponri and Megamound Greater Lagos Apartments at Obele-Oniwala in Surulere.

During the inauguration on Monday, Sanwo-Olu emphasized that these housing projects are a testament to the state government’s vision for a greater Lagos, one that prioritizes inclusivity, modern infrastructure, and community development.

“The joy and peace that come with finally owning a house are beyond words. That is why providing decent housing is a top priority for this administration.

”It is about ensuring dignity, security, and a brighter future for every Lagosian.”

The governor provided details about the Megamound Greater Lagos Apartments, stating that the project covers an area of 3.7 hectares and consists of 21 blocks of apartments with one, two, and three bedrooms, amounting to a total of 378 units.

”The estate, developed under the Lagos Building Investment Company (LBIC), aligns with the state’s 2020 mission to deliver modern and affordable housing solutions to its growing population,” he said

The Olaleye New Town Estate at Iponri is a result of a successful collaboration between the LBIC and Exquisite Homes Ltd.

Spread across more than 7,000 square meters, the estate boasts 64 four-bedroom maisonettes, each designed to combine luxury, comfort, and security. Every unit is equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a high-quality living experience for its residents.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the positive ripple effects of these housing projects, as they have generated employment opportunities, fostered local businesses, and invigorated the economy in the surrounding areas.

“These projects have done more than just provide homes; they have empowered local communities and contributed to our vibrant economy.

“We have also ensured the integration of green spaces and sustainable practices to make them future-ready,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to all those involved in the successful completion of the housing projects, including architects, engineers, construction workers, and local residents for their invaluable contributions and unwavering support.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the THEMES Plus Agenda, the governor emphasized the priority given to housing, urban renewal, and inclusive growth.

He encouraged prospective homeowners to embrace the spirit of community and make the most of these new living spaces, he also called on other stakeholders to continue supporting the government’s initiatives.

“Let us join forces to take care of these estates and set a positive example for others. Together, we can continue to create not just houses, but homes where every Lagosian can thrive,” he said.

“The inauguration of both estates stands as a testament to the state’s drive to build resilient, inclusive, and future-ready communities in pursuit of a greater Lagos.”
