EKOHOTBLOG reports that the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has bagged the ‘Outstanding Governor of the Year Award’ at the Y2021 Lagos State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Gala/Awards.

This is just as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, emerged as the ‘Oustanding Speaker of a State Assembly’ at the NUJ Gala/Awards held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Lagos State Council of the NUJ, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, said Governor Sanwo-Olu was nominated because his administration recorded landmark achievements in the area of Transportation and Traffic Management, Health and Environment, Education and Technology, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment and Tourism, and in the Security and Governance sectors.

“It is also on record that the Lagos State Government, under his leadership as the Incident Commander, battled the three waves of COVID-19 pandemic with huge success. He equally handled the EndSARS protests by directly engaging the youths and taking their case to President Muhammadu Buhari,” the NUJ Chairman said.

Ajayi further stated that Obasa emerged as ‘Outstanding Speaker of a State Assembly’ because he has “promoted a harmonious relationship between the Executive and the Legislative Arms of government, thereby impacting on the smooth running of governance by the Sanwo-Olu administration”.
