Eko Hot Blog reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu today announced the re-calibration of Lagos State’s agenda for tourism through the development of a tourism master plan and tourism policy aimed at economic regeneration.
Speaking at the Africa Gaming Expo Lagos 2024, the Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment “to leverage the potential of the gaming, entertainment, and tourism sectors in line with the THEMES+ economic agenda.”
Sanwo-Olu highlighted the state’s efforts “to increase our share of the African gaming market and solidify our position in the industry through public-private partnerships.” He stated, “Lagos State is known for its commercial and entertainment grandeur, and we aim to capitalize on the nexus between entertainment, gaming, and tourism for economic growth.”
The Governor underscored the importance of collaboration among stakeholders, stressing, “It is important that there is collaboration among stakeholders to explore new ideas and strategies to realize the full socio-economic potential of the gaming, entertainment, and tourism industries in Africa.”
The unveiling of the Tourism Master Plan and Tourism Policy is part of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s broader vision to harness the synergies between various sectors, including gaming, entertainment, and tourism, to drive economic growth and position Lagos as a hub for tourism and entertainment in Africa.
With its vibrant commercial and entertainment landscape, Lagos State aims to capitalize on this nexus, attracting investments and creating employment opportunities through public-private partnerships and strategic collaborations with industry stakeholders.
The governor’s announcement at the Africa Gaming Expo Lagos 2024 highlights the state’s commitment to diversifying its economic base and exploring innovative avenues for revenue generation and economic development.
