Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has established another 110-bed Maternal and Child Centre (MCC) in Badagry, to reverse the high rate of maternal mortality within the state.
Recall the governor, in September, had opened a 149-bed MCC located within the Alimosho General Hospital in continuation of the effort to reduce the incidence of a child, maternal mortality.
Unveiling the recently completed MCC, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi announced that the state government has completed the four-floor edifice.
He said the structure was uniquely designed like others to suit the pre-conceptual integrated health services, adding that the facility has a reception, patient waiting section, the medical records section, the outpatient consulting rooms, the resuscitation room, the family planning clinic section.
Other aspects of the MCC according to Abayomi include the call room, the laboratory, pharmacy, Ultrasound scan room, labor rooms, delivery rooms, theatre, recovery room, Intensive care baby unit, treatment room, pre-natal ward, the post-natal ward and nursery.·
Lauding the dedication of the state governor’s administration, he said, “The completion of this critical health infrastructure has no doubt demonstrated the Sanwo-Olu’s administration commitment towards addressing the twin issue of maternal and child deaths in Lagos.
“No woman or child should die from normal life enhancing process of procreation.”
