Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has enjoined National Youth Service Corps members to key into the State’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme stressing that it will make them more employable and, consequently, become financially and economically independent.
The Governor gave the advice during the Opening/Swearing-In Ceremony of the 2020 Batch A, Stream 1 Corp Members at the State Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, on Thursday.
Represented at the event by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, Sanwo-Olu added that the programme would make them “Job Creators and not Job Seekers”.
Sanwo-Olu charged them to take advantage of the opportunities and programmes at the orientation camp, stressing that the service year is designed to provide a platform for Nigerians of varying cultural and socio-economic backgrounds to come together under one umbrella to reinforce the integrity of the Nigerian nation as one indivisible entity.
The Governor also used the occasion to formally welcome Mr Eddy Megwa, the new NYSC State Coordinator and the helmsman of the scheme in Lagos, assuring him of government’s co-operation and support.
