What goes in favour of the Argentine star is what we discuss in the article.
Amidst speculation about the future of Lionel Messi, including a potential move to Al-Hilal, the lack of a definitive decision has generated mixed reactions.
While his father vehemently denied reports of a “done deal,” it is evident that Messi is considering various options for the upcoming season. However, the possibility of him joining a Saudi Arabian club raises concerns about his motivations and priorities.

In recent years, Messi’s actions both on and off the field have left many disappointed, as his perceived lack of social consciousness has come to the fore.
His suspension by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for fulfilling a promotional obligation in Saudi Arabia, despite pleas from families of prisoners of conscience, exemplifies this sentiment.
Consequently, it comes as no surprise that Messi would seemingly have no qualms about joining Al-Hilal from a moral standpoint.
However, from a sporting perspective, such a transfer appears puzzling. Messi has openly expressed his desire to win a fifth UEFA Champions League title, considering it his remaining “dream” at the club level.
Upon joining PSG, Lionel Messi believed he was in the ideal environment to achieve this goal. Yet, PSG has suffered premature exits in the round of 16 during both of Messi’s seasons in France, with this year’s elimination against Bayern Munich being particularly disheartening.
The second-leg defeat to Bayern Munich showcased PSG’s lacklustre performance, leaving Messi looking lost and the team devoid of cohesion. Observers, including former Bayern captain Philipp Lahm, noted Messi’s individual brilliance but lamented the absence of purpose, direction, and teamwork within PSG’s ranks.
If this proves to be Messi’s final appearance in the Champions League, it would be a far from fitting conclusion to his illustrious club career.
While sympathy may be scarce for a player of Messi’s stature, it is crucial to acknowledge that he has the power to shape his destiny. Despite ongoing FFP concerns, there are several top European clubs eager to secure his services, given reasonable financial arrangements.
If he genuinely desires a return to Barcelona, he could demonstrate his commitment by accepting a significant wage reduction, ensuring a more financially viable move. This would not diminish his earning potential, as he could still be handsomely compensated.
Lionel Messi found himself caught in the throes of disappointment when the reverberating echoes of Barcelona president Joan Laporta’s words pierced his heart, suggesting that he should have played for free all in the name of rescuing the crumbling economic coffers of the club. However, it highlighted Messi’s awareness of his own worth and his unwillingness to compromise financially.
Ultimately, Messi’s potential move to Al-Hilal or any other destination will shed light on his priorities. If he chooses financial gain over sporting ambitions, it will reinforce the perception that money is his main motivation. While it is within his rights to prioritize financial stability, it may diminish his legacy as one of the greatest footballers of all time.
