Scholarships, Wheelchairs, Food items, Others Distributed As The Care People And Sholape Animashawun Foundation Unite In Giving

Eko Hot Blog reports that it was a day to remember for hundreds of beneficiaries at the annual carnival for the physically challenged, orphans and widows held on Sunday at the CPF Motherless babies home, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Organized by the Care People Foundation In Partnership with Sholape Animashawun Foundation, the event was well attended by scores of motherless babies homes, disabled people establishments, widows and the less privileged.

The guest speaker, Prof. Isaac Adeyemi, former Vice Chancelor, Bells University, Ogun State narrated the failed attempts by successive governments to enact and implement legislative framework for the care of disabled persons in Nigeria.

He cited challenges such as lack of funds, education and understanding as the complex factors that made the legislations difficult to implement.

He urged the Bola Tinubu led federal government to implement transformative policies that will rekindle the hope of the physically challenged, orphans, motherless babies and the less privileged in the Nigerian society.

Prof Adeyemi hails the care people foundation and suggested it as a model for Nigerian government due to its openness and transparency, consistency and dedication.

In his address, the President and founder of the care people foundation, Revd Paul Tunde Tioluwani (Lese kese), disclosed that since the home was established in 1990, thousands of helpless people have been impacted.

He noted that the Home has granted scholarships to over two thousand students out of which ten are now graduate and doing well in their chosen career.

“Two of our students here, Adeniyi Boluwatife and Kolapo Iyanuoluwa have completed their university education in business administration and Accounting respectively. Olowere Olamide, a trained civil engineer is now a soldier of the Nigerian Army. Another of our product, Ojeniyi David is a serving Youth Corp Member to mention but a few”

“We have also given out hundreds of brand new wheelchairs and  computers for students in need. Additionally, our salaried support for the widow which was initiated to provide succor the downtrodden has touched many lives.”

Reverend Tioluwani  called on President Bola Tinubu and other political office holders to formulate economic policies to ease the pain of the masses saying “the street is not smiling”.

He appreciated Sholape Animashawun Foundation for its continuous, fruitful collaboration over the years.

While speaking, founder of Sholape Animashawun Foundation, Alhaji Semiu Animashawun said the foundation was founded in memory of her late wife, Rasheedat Sholape Animashawun who died in 2009.

“Sholape Animashawun Foundation has touched the lives of many people in need. We have been able to improve on our last year’s edition in terms of scholarship awarded.

Next year will be 15th years of my late wife’s passing so we plan to have something bigger than this.”

“God willing, we will be awarding scholarships to 50 students next year” he said.

Speaking on the sustainability of foundation, Alhaji Animashawun hinted that the he is already working to pass the Initiative down to his children to ensure that the NGO’s charitable activities continues beyond him.

“My daughter currently heads the foundation. I made her lead the organization to prepare her for the role ahead when I am no longer around” he said

Twenty students drawn from various universities across the country were awarded scholarships amount of N100,000 by Sholape Animashawun Foundation to support their educational pursuit.

Likewise, the care people foundation awarded scholarships to fifteen university students making a total of 35 scholarships awarded on the day.

Seven wheelchairs, two sewing machines, one grinding machine and hundreds of food packages were distributed to deserving people in need.

In an interview with Eko Hot Blog One of the beneficiary, Olasupo Mubarak, a medicine student of Olabisi Onabanjo described the scholarship as a big relief.

“I just saw the link online and I applied thinking let me just try it out. Not long after, I was contacted and invited for the interview in Lagos. I am very happy and grateful that the foundation pick me after all the processes. May the Almighty reward them abundantly”

Highlight of the event includ: Parade, Dance presentation, Medical  outreach,gift presentation among others.

Popular Nollywood Actress such as  Bose Akinola (Governor, TAMPAN, Oyo State) and Rukayat Lawal (Iya Ibadan) were on hand to add color to the event.
