EKO HOT BLOG reports that the tragic incident occurred late on Saturday night, leaving the community in shock. Neighbors who witnessed the aftermath described the scene as gruesome and horrific.
An eyewitness, identified only as Umoh, said the gate to the Umukoro residence was found open around 10 pm, an unusual occurrence that raised concern among the neighbors and passersby. Intrigued by the open gate, they decided to check the house, only to be confronted with a terrifying discovery.
“When neighbors checked the Umukoro residence late that night, they saw fire coming from inside the house. The front door was left open, and upon entering, they found Mrs. Umukoro’s lifeless body, burned beyond recognition,” Umoh explained.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest. He said, “The son is currently in police custody. We cannot confirm yet whether he is responsible for his mother’s death until a thorough investigation is concluded.”
