School Reopening: Underage Boy Seen Working As Bus Conductor In Ikotun

While many have attributed it to extreme poverty, others have publicly felt ashamed as to what appears to be another young boy on the street trying by all means to survive in a world full of harsh realities.

The yet-to-be identified boy of less than 16-years-old was spotted doing the job of much more matured young men.

The little boy was seen calling prospective passengers into the yellow bus popularly known as Danfo in Ile-Iwe Bus Stop, Ikotun Road, Lagos.

Reacting to the picture that generated a lot of controversies online, many Nigerians once again blamed the government for its inaction and its failed promises.

Others noted remorsefully how Nigerians themselves have no choice than to do anything they can in the name of survival.

Here are some of the reactions from Nigerians:

Obele Agu “Some of us didn’t have the opportunity to hustle in the city , we hustled in remote village by culltivating to get paid , climbing of palm trees and carrying a concrete..we don’t just want our background to shape us.”

Showunmi Christiana “At least he’s working to earn a living. A visit to Oshodi underbridge will tear you apart if you tour for just 30minutes. A lot of underage boys, looking dirty and unkept probably smoking weed and all sort, looking for who to rob or steal from”.

AdekanbiG “This is child endangerment, he will be exposed to a lot of things like drugs, alcohol, physical and emotional abuse. Y now, to crown it all he is wearing a Nur/Pry School vest. See him stretching his throat to shout. Biko, where are his parents.”

Naijavikings “Who do we blame here now.The government or the parents. Failed state beer palour country. After everything they’ll come and be deceiving the children that they’re the future of tomorrow which of the tomorrow. 1983 tomorrow abi which one. Wicked country”

Underage Boy

Levi Ekweme “This is quite sympathetic, the only crime the little boy committed is to be a citizen of this Nation. It’s time to get up and speak out.”

Abdel M “I really feel for him. They’re a lot of people that need help in this country but no one look at them. Later they’ll be blaming the govt and they’re there contributing money for this girl wey fame like Tasha for bbn house. What’s her name self.”
