Ekohotblog reports that there was chaos as unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed the Goronyo market in the Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State’s Eastern Senatorial District, killing an undisclosed number of people.
Ekohotblog learnt that the incident occurred on Sunday night when the armed men invaded the market in large numbers, shooting sporadically and gunned down many villagers who were engaged in their usual night transactions.
At press time, the number of casualties documented during the incident could not be determined since details remained hazy.
When contacted by reporters, Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, stated that he had not yet received a formal briefing on the incident.

“I’ve not been officially briefed, I will get back to you soonest”, the command’s spokesman said in a text message.
It would be recalled that the incident marks the third time in two weeks that the armed bandits attacked village markets in the state amid military operations in the area.
