Scores Injured, Property Vandalized As APC, ADC Supporters Clash Ahead Of Ondo Council Poll [Photos]

Violent clashes have been recorded in the Ondo West Local Government Area of the state between supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC and African Democratic Congress, ADC., barely 24 hours to the local council polls.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, said the cause of the clash was yet to be ascertained.

Ikoro stated that there were many casualties on both sides with many of the wounded already hospitalized.

During the clash, no fewer than fifteen cars were vandalised.

With both parties trading words over the violence, the state Chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin said it was members of the ADC who attacked APC members campaigning in the area.

Adetimehin who described the ADC as an alarmist party said the party was yet to get over the harvest of its chieftains into the APC.

He noted that he advised APC members not to retaliate any attacks but to report at the nearest police station

The Ondo APC chairman said the party is campaigning with achievements of Governor Akeredolu in infrastructural development, education, health, welfare and employment of young graduates.

On his part, the governorship candidate of the ADC, Prince Dapo Adelegan condemned the violent attacks on his members.

Recall that similar incident was recorded in Idanre local government area of the state when candidates and members of the Social Democratic Party, SDP were attacked and injured by thugs.
