The acts now have full access to claim the copyrights ownership of the music. This is following after a source hinted that Sean Combs had been offered billions to sell the full rights of the music, but he refused. Combs had declined the offers on the stance of “giving back to the people who helped build his music company”,

The Bad Boy Records founded in 1990s has nurtured a number of prominent artistes such as 112, The Lox, Notorious B.I.G, Faith Evans and Ma$e. These artistes have now been granted full autonomy to their songwriting rights without interference from the record label.

Combs began this move in 2021 when reached out to the artistes and songwriters individually to give the full rights. However, there are still some members of the crew who are yet to be reached and located.

Bad Boy Records, established in 1993 through a collaboration between Combs and Arista Records, produced an array of hip-hop classics, including hits like “Juice” and “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” by Notorious B.I.G., “Flava In Ya Ear” by Craig Mack, and “Feel So Good” by Ma$e. At the time of their signings, it was customary for labels to secure a portion of an artist’s publishing rights, a practice that has sparked disputes over the years.
