The sources have revealed that ongoing training programs are being conducted for both the police force and military personnel to ensure a seamless transition. Furthermore, special police units have been deployed to facilitate a smooth inauguration process.
The source stated, “The training of police officers, in conjunction with the military, is currently underway to ensure that the entire exercise proceeds without any glitches. Policemen from the Special Protection Unit have been assigned to safeguard public officials who have significant roles in the inauguration.
As a result, security personnel assigned to individuals with no direct involvement in the inauguration have been reduced, with some of their guards being reassigned to individuals with critical roles to fulfill.”
In a similar vein, another security source mentioned the existence of threats from dissident groups expressing grievances over their perceived loss.
The source stated, “Intelligence operatives have been deployed across the FCT to gather vital information that would enable them to ensure a smooth and trouble-free inauguration. These operatives are present throughout the area and are actively collecting necessary information.
I can assure you that progress is being made. Additionally, considering the expected influx of people into Abuja for the event, it is imperative to maintain control and prevent any undesirable situations from arising. Rest assured that every possible measure is being taken to ensure the success of the inauguration.”
It is noteworthy that the Presidential Transition Council recently released a detailed program for the inauguration. The Chairman of the Council and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, confirmed the presence of foreign heads of state at the event. Similarly, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation announced that the surrounding areas of Eagle Square, the inauguration venue, would be cordoned off starting from 2 pm on Friday, in accordance with security arrangements.
