A staff of Union Bank of Nigeria has died from COVID-19 complications, the bank announced on Monday.
According to the statement released by the bank, the staff died in the early hours of Monday, May 4th.
In a letter by Emeka Emuwa, Union Bank’s CEO, he wrote;

“Dear Colleagues,
“Notwithstanding the easing of the lockdown, the threat of COVID-19 remains high and real.
“Today, we received a painful reminder of this threat. We are deeply saddened to announce that one of our colleagues passed away in the early hours today (Monday May 4th), while being treated at the Infectious Disease Centre.
“Out of respect for the family, we are protecting the identity of the colleague until the family chooses to make a formal announcement.
“Please note that this staff had been working remotely since the bank activated remote working in March and he not worked or been in any of our offices or branches since then.
“COVID-19 is a respecter of no one and we must all continue to take the highest levels of precaution to protect ourselves and others around us.”
He further listed the measures against COVID-19 and strongly advised staff to keep up to it and be responsible for themselves and others.
