Access Bank has revealed the reason behind the invitation of its Group Managing Director, Herbert Wigwe by the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commision EFCC
Access Bank in a statement said the invitation was essentially related to the credit facilities that were availed Slok Nigeria Limited by the defunct Diamond Bank.
“Access Bank had inherited the Slok credit following the recent merger between Access and Diamond Bank,” the statement said.
The statement further added that following fruitful engagement between the EFCC and the bank, issues relating to the Slok credit facilities have been resolved.
Slok is owned by Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Abia State governor and a Senator in the Ninth National Assembly, who was jailed late last year for fraud.
Besides jailing Kalu for 12 years, the court also ordered that his companies, including Slok, be forfeited to the Federal Government.
