The suspect, Misbahu Salisu, was arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board on Friday. He reportedly confessed to the crime, saying he gave the baby a local insect killer, Otapiapia, and drugged his wife with sleeping tablets before carrying out the act.
Salisu has been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
