Sen. Abaribe Queries Proposed ₦123m For State House Catering Materials [VIDEOS]
A lawmaker representing Abia-South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe has queried some proposed expenses in the breakdown of the State House’s 2021 budget.
Abaribe, while addressing the Senate during Tuesday’s plenary, disputed a proposed ₦123 million slated for catering equipment and materials.
“Did they throw away the one they did last year?” the lawmaker queried. “They spent ₦94 million last year to buy catering equipment now they are coming this year again to buy another catering equipment.”

Abaribe, among other issues, also said that the case of some members of the executive arm claiming that the lawmakers do not need cars requested for official purposes is a case of pot calling kettle black as a number of luxury cars were also quoted in the proposed budget.
“For those in that State House who were claiming that we in this National Assembly were buying vehicles, there is a provision for 5 BMW cars and they say we don’t need cars but they are buying for themselves. What are they doing with it?” he asked again.
Abaribe also mentioned a large sum stipulated for honorarium and sitting allowances for State House officials.
Eko Hot Blog recalls that the National Assembly took delivery of Toyota Camry cars for its members in March after it they were procured for official purposes.
