Senate Gives A Nod To Ex-IGP Arase To Head The Helm Of Police Commission

Arase was Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police (IGP) from 2015 to 2016.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Senate has confirmed the nomination of a former Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase (rtd) for appointment as chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The upper chamber confirmed the nomination on Wednesday after it considered the report of screening of the nominee presented by the Senator Haliru Jika (APC – Bauchi Central)-led Committee on Police Affairs.
The confirmation comes one day after Senate President Ahmad Lawan announced President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for the Senate to screen and confirm Arase as the PSC boss.
Buhari said the appointment was in accordance with the provision of Section 154 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
