Senate Postpone Public Hearing for NNPC, Dangote, Other Stakeholders

The Nigerian Senate has postponed its public hearing on alleged sabotage within the petroleum industry initially set for September 10-12, 2024, the hearing will be rescheduled to facilitate further consultations with key stakeholders whose insights are crucial for a thorough investigation.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee on the issue, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central), announced the postponement on Sunday.

The delay allows for more detailed discussions with involved parties, including Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited officials, Central Bank of Nigeria representatives, and other relevant entities.

The investigation seeks to address issues related to the expenditure on refinery maintenance, allegations of overpayment to transporters, and the importation of substandard petroleum products. The committee has already completed preliminary investigations and engaged with ministries, departments, and agencies related to the sector.
