EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigerian Senate has fixed Monday, August 7 for the screening of former Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo as well the new representative from Kano State, Mariga Mahmud.
The decision was taken on Saturday after the lawmakers screened five nominees, including Lola John (Lagos), Ishak Salako (Ogun), Bosun Tijani (Ogun), Uba Ahmadu (Taraba), and Tahir Mamman (Adamawa).
This online media platform gathered that after the screening of the fifth nominee on Saturday, the Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele moved for an adjournment of proceedings till the next legislative sitting which is Monday.
He added that the security screening for both Keyamo and Mahmud were yet to be completed because their nominations came late.
“The letter nominating the last two nominees came late and they are in the process of completing their documentation. We are waiting for the security report,” he told the senate.
“May I move that we step down their own confirmation hearing till Monday, which is the next legislative day?”
The motion was seconded by the senator representing Plateau North, Simon Mwadkon.
With the development, the Senate has so far screened 46 nominees out of 48 nominees sent to it by President Bola Tinubu.
