Senator Kalu Urges CAF To Sanction Libya, Award Super Eagles Full Points

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has urged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to award the Super Eagles full points in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, following the alleged mistreatment of the Nigerian team.

Kalu’s call comes after the Super Eagles, along with their coach and technical crew, were reportedly stranded for over 14 hours at a Libyan airport without basic necessities such as food, WiFi, hotel accommodations, and proper logistical support upon their arrival for the second leg of the AFCON 2025 qualifier.

In a statement released on Monday, Kalu emphasized that CAF must take decisive action and sanction Libya for their poor treatment of the Nigerian national team, highlighting the disregard and disrespect shown to the Super Eagles.

“CAF must make that decision as quickly as possible to serve as a deterrent to any African country that behaves in such an irresponsible manner.”

“These things must be put to a halt forthwith. This dishonourable display of lack of class and character must stop henceforth. I condemn this horrible disregard for fellow humans. It is utter shame that the Libya Football Federation could display such a cunning strategy. These were the things they cunningly did to Enyimba Football Club of Aba, and I fought against it. CAF must award the three (3) points to the Super Eagles of Nigeria immediately,” Kalu said.
