Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has announced her intention to resume legislative duties at the National Assembly on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in line with a court ruling on her suspension — despite an appeal filed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking during a community empowerment event in her constituency, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker asserted that while the suspension affected her legislative work, it did not deter her from serving her people.
“I have about two months left before the six-month period ends. However, I have written to the Senate again, informing them that I’m resuming on the 22nd, which is Tuesday, by God’s grace. I will be there because the court made a decision,” she stated.
Akpoti-Uduaghan addressed ongoing debate over the court’s decision, explaining that while it wasn’t an explicit order directing her reinstatement, it legally questioned the basis of her suspension.
Reflecting on her time away from plenary, the senator noted that although she missed out on sponsoring bills and participating in debates, her role in representation and constituency engagement remained active.
“Every senator has three core functions: legislative, oversight, and representation. While I’ve missed putting up bills, I’ve continued to represent my people effectively, ensuring their issues are reflected in the federal budget,” she said.

She confirmed that a formal letter had been sent to the Senate leadership notifying them of her scheduled return to the red chamber.
