Senator Pledges to Expand Education Support for Students

  • Students advised to avoid social vices that may hinder their progress.

Senator Saliu Mustapha, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Production Services and Rural Development, urged students to steer clear of social vices that could disrupt their academic journey. He also promised to expand his scholarship programme to cover the distribution of WAEC, NECO, and JAMB forms in 2025, helping more students access higher education, Ekohotblog reports.

The Senator reassured attendees that the initiative would benefit even more students next year. “My dedication to education remains steadfast. We will grow this programme to give more youth in Kwara Central the opportunity to succeed,” he stated.

He called on parents to support their children’s academic aspirations, stressing that teamwork between parents and the community is essential for the programme’s success.

Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission and a one-time Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, praised the Senator’s vision and efforts in human capital development. He encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity to excel in their studies.

Prof. Binta Sulyman, Chairperson of the Saliu Mustapha Foundation’s Education Committee, reflected on the extensive planning behind the initiative. She highlighted the Senator’s financial backing, which ensured a transparent and effective process.

Prof. Kazeem Gbolagade, Vice Chancellor of Ahman Pategi University, speaking on behalf of other beneficiary institutions, applauded the Senator’s unique gesture of awarding full scholarships to 200 students.
